Our Team Kevin L. Handy, AIA

Kevin L. Handy, AIA
Principal
G&H Architects, Inc.

Kevin Handy’s passion for architecture goes back to his high school days where he worked part-time drafting for local home builders.

While attending college, he spent his summers working for a local architectural firm, primarily on K-12 educational and state municipal projects, which continued on after he graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology.

Following seven years with that group, Kevin went on to work for another Springfield firm where he expanded his portfolio to include design-build structured projects, including medical facilities, libraries, fire stations, and state buildings such as the Illinois State Supreme Court. Many of his projects included a need for historic sensitivity, a skill he has honed over the years.

Kevin HandyToday with G&H, Kevin is a Principal where he focuses much of his time and skill on historic renovation projects, K-12 and university educational projects, and sustainable design for the firm’s work, including other areas such as government, office, and worship facilities. His skill scope spans planning, design, construction documentation, and construction administration.

Kevin is a native of Pleasant Plains, Illinois. He lives in Springfield with his wife, Mari, and their two children, aged twelve and ten. When he’s not attending his kid’s sporting events, Kevin enjoys golfing, biking, and following the St. Louis Cardinals.
