Our Team Michael D. Zellers, AIA

Michael D. Zellers, AIA
Principal
G&H Architects, Inc.

Michael Zellers has been with G&H Architects for nearly 30 years.

Today he is a principal in the company and his engagements include planning, design, construction documentation, and construction administration for new and renovation projects. While medical projects are a particular specialty, Michael also works on educational and religious facilities, office buildings, historic preservation projects, recreational facilities, commercial projects, and housing. He also brings skills in concept design and sketching.

Upon completion of school, Michael’s professional career began when he took a private sector position with an architectural firm, coordinating projects on state projects such as the state capitol, the state armory, and other state buildings. He was also charged with project management overseeing renovations, new construction, and additions; project design and production; and creating drawings and specifications. Later he accepted a position as a project liaison for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ state park needs under the Build Illinois initiative, helping to expand amenities at state parks and lodges at destinations such as White Pines, Giant City and Illinois Beach State Parks.

A native of central Indiana, Michael has resided in Illinois since 1976. He and his wife of nearly 40 years, Gail, have three children and two grandchildren. Michael enjoys fishing and hunting and when time permits, automotive restoration.
