In 2010, Graham & Hyde was engaged to plan and implement campus improvement projects at Benedictine University in Springfield, Illinois. Desired upgrades included site improvements across campus, HVAC renovations, and athletic facility improvements to increase the welcoming appeal and to drive enrollment.
The first phase of Benedictine’s campus improvements were renovations in Angela Hall to convert classrooms into microbiology laboratories and create faculty offices for the science department.
Laboratory upgrades and amenities now provide first class accommodations for students and instructors, and include student islands, bio-safety laminar flow hoods, instructor demonstration stations, emergency shower/eyewash stations, and a prep room complete with glassware washer, refrigerated cabinets, and fume hood. Existing curtain wall windows were maintained to allow ample daylight to fill the space and provide an excellent learning environment.
